Repsol has achieved a major technological breakthrough by producing 100% renewable gasoline at industrial scale for the first time at its Tarragona complex.

The new Nexa 95 100% renewable gasoline, Repsol’s highest-quality 95-octane product, is already available at 20 service stations in Madrid and Catalonia and will reach 30 locations before the end of the year. The fuel can be used in any gasoline vehicle without engine modifications or infrastructure upgrades, reducing net CO₂ emissions by more than 70% compared to conventional gasoline.

This launch expands the company’s renewable offering, adding to its 100% renewable Diesel Nexa and demonstrating that renewable liquid fuels are a viable decarbonization pathway for internal combustion vehicles.

Repsol’s decarbonization strategy embraces a multi-solution model, combining renewable fuels with electrification, AutoGas, and renewable hydrogen to accelerate emissions reduction while ensuring supply security.

The company already operates the first large-scale 100% renewable fuel plant on the Iberian Peninsula, in Cartagena, producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel. A second plant, with a capacity of 200,000 tons per year, is set to open in 2026 at Repsol’s Puertollano site to supply road and maritime transport.
