1Vision Biogas set to become a leading biogas player in the Nordics

1Vision Biogas AB announces the closing of the acquisition of St1 Nordic Oy’s biogas assets.

1Vision Biogas AB is acquiring St1 Nordic Oy’s biogas assets to strengthen its leadership position. The joint venture formed by St1, HitecVision, and Aneo had earlier acquired Biokraft International AB, the largest producer of liquefied biogas in the region.

The combined entities aim to create an integrated biogas company operating across the entire value chain, from feedstock sourcing to sales and distribution.

The company sees liquefied biogas as a critical growth area in the energy transition, with plans to reach 3 TWh of biomethane production and 6 TWh of biomethane sales by 2030. Targeting heavy transportation, maritime, and industrial applications, 1Vision Biogas plans to invest more than €1 billion in biogas production and distribution networks.

St1, HitecVision, and Aneo formed the joint venture in December of last year, each bringing complementary expertise in energy transition and renewable energy. St1 will continue to leverage its sales and distribution networks to support 1Vision Biogas.

CEO Henrikki Talvitie of St1 Nordic and Jan Harald Solstad of HitecVision highlighted the acquisition as a strategic move to accelerate biogas growth and provide sustainable fuel solutions to hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy transport and shipping.
