Asda announces £10M makeover for in-store cafés
Last update: Jun 17, 2025
Over 180 cafés to receive upgrades, new menu and improved service by October.

Asda has unveiled plans for a £10 million investment to revamp more than 180 of its in-store cafés, promising a fresh look, updated technology and an expanded menu for customers.
The refurbishment programme, delivered in partnership with Compass, will begin this month and is scheduled for completion by the end of October. Under the plan, each café will be redesigned to create a more relaxed, coffee shop atmosphere.
New features will include digital menu screens and the option for table ordering, alongside traditional staffed tills.
“Cafés are an important part of the shopping experience for many of our customers, and this significant investment allows us to bring a new look and feel, while improving service and refreshing the menu,” said Ian McEvans, Vice President of Commercial Food at Asda.
Customers will find new additions to the menu such as smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, topped salad bowls, wraps, and sharing platters like nachos and loaded fries. 12-inch pizzas will now be available in the cafés, either whole or by the slice, with options including margherita, pepperoni, meat feast, and veggie supreme. The drinks menu is also being updated to include flavoured iced coffees and a wider range of cakes, complementing the relaxed coffee shop atmosphere Asda aims to create.
The café makeover is part of Asda’s broader strategy to enhance the in-store experience, combining good value with improved dining options for shoppers nationwide.
