Last update: May 1, 2025
Ocean Terminal hosts Source’s flagship site, kickstarting a 300-hub rollout backed by SSE and TotalEnergies.

Source, the new player in the electric vehicle (EV) charging space backed by energy giants SSE and TotalEnergies, officially launched its first ultra-rapid EV charging hub at Ocean Terminal in Edinburgh.
The site marks the company’s first operational location in the UK and the beginning of an ambitious plan to deploy over 300 ultra-rapid hubs across the UK and Ireland within the next five years. Equipped with six 160kW chargers, the 12-bay flagship hub will be opening to the public on May 6.
“The EV industry has reached a turning point, and we’re here to lead it into uncharted territories. Our ambition is to capture 20% of the UK and Ireland’s ultra-rapid market by delivering hubs that are easy to find, easy to use, and built for the future,” said Deepa Chandrasekaran, Managing Director of Source.
The launch aligns with the ongoing redevelopment of Ocean Terminal, already home to the Royal Yacht Britannia and soon to feature 530 new homes and major retailers like Tesco.
Scotland currently hosts more than 6,700 public charge points, ranking fourth in the UK for charging coverage. With its Edinburgh hub now live and more sites in development, Source aims to set a bold tone for the future of EV charging, one that’s green, fast, and fundamentally designed around drivers’ needs.
