TotalEnergies and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) have signed an agreement for the supply of 1 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year to South Korea over a 10-year period beginning at the end of 2027.

Awarded through an international tender, the contract will raise TotalEnergies’ deliveries to KOGAS to 3 million tons annually from 2028. The additional LNG volumes will support Korean industries, businesses, and households, sourced from the French energy giant’s global portfolio, particularly its U.S. production and offtake.

Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, said: “This agreement enables TotalEnergies to secure long-term outlets in Asia, consistently with the growth of its LNG supply, particularly from the United States.”

As the world’s third-largest LNG player, TotalEnergies had a global portfolio of 40 million tons per year in 2024 and interests in liquefaction plants worldwide.

KOGAS President and CEO Yeonhye Choi added: “This agreement not only enhances the economic value of our LNG portfolio but also contributes to diversifying our sources of LNG supply. It reinforces our commitment to securing a stable LNG supply amid a rapidly changing global energy landscape.”

TotalEnergies aims to expand natural gas to nearly 50% of its sales mix by 2030, supporting coal-to-gas transition initiatives while working to cut carbon and methane emissions.
