The Abu Dhabi retailer has launched the second phase of its service station solarization program in collaboration with Emerge.

ADNOC Distribution has launched the second phase of its service station solarization program in collaboration with Emerge. This includes installing solar panels in more than 100 stations in Abu Dhabi.
The program builds on ADNOC Distribution’s goal to reduce operational carbon intensity by 25% by 2030. Solar panels installed during the program will decrease greenhouse gas emissions, reduce energy costs, and optimize the energy mix at service stations.
In the first phase, solar panels were installed at 28 stations in Dubai, generating over 6,300 MWh of electricity by the end of 2024 and cutting CO₂ emissions by more than 2,900 tonnes. The second phase will extend the program to more than 100 stations in Abu Dhabi, producing nearly 30,000 MWh of renewable energy annually.
ADNOC Distribution’s solarization efforts are part of its broader sustainability initiatives, which include adopting AI tools for energy optimization, utilizing biofuels in fleet vehicles, and embedding sustainability goals into its financial framework. In 2023, the company became the first UAE fuel retailer to convert a $1.5 billion loan into a sustainability-linked facility, tying financial incentives to environmental achievements.
