The expanded effort reflects a shared commitment to community care and resource sustainability.
bp’s U.S. convenience retail brands ampm and Thorntons have relaunched and expanded their partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. The initiative will now span across all company-owned and operated (COCO) locations, making it one of the most extensive food donation programs in the U.S. convenience sector.
Building on a successful food rescue model already in place at Thorntons locations, the expanded effort reflects a shared commitment to community care and resource sustainability. Each participating store will donate surplus food to nearby food banks and pantries, all part of Feeding America’s nationwide network. This localized approach ensures that communities in need directly benefit from resources otherwise destined for waste.
“Working with Feeding America allows us to directly support the communities we serve, ensuring fewer families face hunger,” said Lisa Blalock, VP of U.S. Convenience and Mobility at bp. “We are incredibly proud to stand with Feeding America and utilize our store networks of ampm and Thorntons to make a real difference.”
From 2022 to 2023, Thorntons donated over 500,000 pounds of food, a benchmark that the expanded partnership aims to surpass as it scales. Currently, around 320 stores, including select ampm sites, are actively participating, with support from 20 food bank partners across the country.
